Creative Arts Therapy
What is Art Therapy?
Art Therapy is the use of artistic activities in psychotherapy and rehabilitation. In collaboration with art therapists, the process of making art is healing and allows the opportunity to express oneself imaginatively, and authentically. Art-making in therapy provides play, non-verbal communication and creative exploration without pressure.

Nest Building Workshop
The Nest Building Workshop gives participants the opportunity to construct a human nest to explore the meaning of a safe space using natural and sensory materials to engage the senses. This exercise promotes discussion around a variety of therapeutic topics, including safety, attachments to others in our lives, and community. The Interactive Art Installation promotes mindful practice and play in addition to its therapeutic benefits. Inspired by some of the most efficacious art interventions used by Art Therapists, the workshop includes multidisciplinary approaches in Creative Arts Therapy. An Art Therapist leads the Nest-building process. Once the nest is created, group exercises and discussion about their projects are held in collaboration Music Therapists, Dance/Movement Therapists and/or Drama Therapists. An array of materials offered for Nest Building and rich creative process enhance the therapeutic potential of this unique experience.
