Second Skin Performance

We are so excited to host Second Skin for a fully improvised sound journey with dance on Saturday, October 23rd!

About the Artists

Alex Beckmann is a musician, producer, and sound meditation facilitator in NYC. He has done extensive touring as a drummer and makes electronic music under the moniker MMBLR. Synthesizing the healing arts, improvisation, and deep listening practices Alex hopes to use vibration as a means for creating positive change.

Eric Lichtenstein is a multi-disciplinary artist born and raised in New York City. He is a creator and facilitator, intent on actively building community at home and abroad. He believes that connection through creative expression has the capacity to heal and transform. Eric is a truth seeker and avid world traveler exploring ongoing conversations with nature and the human experience.

Allyssa Rivera (pronounced A-lee-sha) is a dance artist and dance/movement therapist raised in Puerto Rico and based in New York City for the past decade. Her passion lies in the exploration of the Body as a site for deep trauma work, healing, and transformation, as well as an ally in the expression and honoring of the complex stories we all hold within. Allyssa is a shadow dancer and an awe-seeker; she welcomes her Selves through the processes of intuitive dance/movement, play, and ritual theater.  Allyssa is also our wonderful Dance and Authentic Movement Therapist at Art Therapy Place.

About Second Skin

Second Skin is a creative inquiry into transformations in nature and death/rebirth cycles. Spontaneous, impulse-driven transmissions of sound and movement in conversation allow us to explore unknown depths. The space becomes a container to communicate the unspeakable. We invite the audience to witness both our ever-changing process and their own as we face the uncertainty and transformation of our worlds within and around us. The group is compromised of two talented musicians, Eric Lichtenstein and Alex Beckmann, and dancer, Allyssa Rivera Cabrero.

Soundbath and Self-Massage Workshop: Tapping into Nature's Cycles

Soundbath w Nature Post (1).png

Join us for the Tapping into Nature’s Cycles: A 3 Week Soundbath and Self-Massage Workshop Series!

We will begin with a short guided breathwork followed by a soundbath which will be offered with Tibetan singing bowls, bells, drums, and voice.

After the soundbath we encourage you to explore through "free art" and channel your experience using your creativity.

Some of the following become possible with soundbaths:

Heightened states of awareness or expanded consciousness, changes in physiology and psychology from known and unknown tensions to relaxations gradually become permanent and manifest in deep sleep.

These changes may represent a tuning of mind, body, and spirit and we will calibrate the harmony of these three areas.

Soundbath & Self-massage Workshop: Looking Inward Series

Every Tuesday in July 730-845 pm.png

Looking Inward: Soundhealing class with Andrea Baquero

You’re about to start a self-healing journey!

This will require looking inward and working on yourself in order to deeply connect with your essence.

Self-massage and sound healing are tools that help us tap into the deepest areas of ourselves and share them with the world.

Post-pandemic, we’ve all been deprived of human touch so self-massage will help us bring this back into our lives in a very gentle and subtle way.

During the self-massage portion of the class, we will experience biodecoding and we’ll balance the yin and yang energies.

Biodecoding is a technique to decode any kind of symptom (physical, emotional, and mental) and resolve their underlying bio-emotional and ancestral cause at the cellular level, in this class through massaging the body. It is a complementary approach to any conventional and alternative treatments, and has the amazing potential to unlock and speed up healing for permanent results.

After the self-massage portion of the class, we will dive inward with a soundbath journey in which we will be meditating on specific subjects which will be suggested each week.

This month we’ll focus on self-connection so that we can inhabit ourselves, and notice what we have pending personally.

Each week, we’ll invite you to work on an exercise that will support your process. This will aid you by tapping into your body, your heart, your intuition, and connecting with your true self.

We’ll go slow. Only address the questions that correspond to each week.
